Recently, the owner of a consulting practice contacted me. In the email, she said that she needed an easier, more predictable way to find ideal prospects. She had already tried a lot of different things but nothing worked. So we set up a meeting so I could learn more about her situation and whether I could help.
Gary M. Miller
This is a true story about a self-employed carpenter who was struggling with his life. He had a lot of the common problems that carpenters have. He had been able get help for those problems but he still struggled a lot to make ends meet especially in his financial life. He also was having a lot of trouble finding the right girlfriend who he could stay with. Nobody seemed good enough for him so he jumped from girlfriend to girlfriend, never really finding true love. In fact, true love he thought was really just a "lie".
Scott Lindsay
Team building can be uncomfortable for many long-term managers. It's not that they can't change their personal status quo; it's just that the thought of coaching a team is, well frankly it's work. Work they may either feel is not necessary or may not feel they have enough time to accomplish such a lofty ideal.
Kurt Mortensen
The Law of Obligation can backfire on you or become a matter of ethics if it's used for the wrong reasons. Manipulation is the flip side of obligation. If you use obligation to manipulate, I guarantee that you will lose your ability to persuade. People will catch on to your tactics, quickly declining any gifts you might offer or even refusing to be around you.

When I look back on my 12 years of being "an Internet marketer" one topic has earned me more money and caused more online marketers incredible frustration, than any other. That topic is actually getting visitors to your website and converting those visitors into customers. The great fact is that without website visitors you really AREN'T in business.
Chris Malta & Robin Cowie
You may not realize it, but you deal with intellectual property (IP) every day. If you own a web site, that web site is your intellectual property. The way you deal with IP, yours and others, can directly impact the success of your business.

Smart companies are using the power of social media to connect and inform their customers and potential customers. Referred to as "Social Media Marketing", it's a smart way to open the lines of communication between you and your prospects.
Paul Marshall
You probably don't need to read the latest advice from the online marketing consultants to figure out the basic idea behind link building. Without links, your site won't develop authority. Without authority, it won't move up on the search engines. But even the savviest online marketing consultant would have to admit that doing that is just not as easy as it sounds.

Social media marketing is extremely important to your business and as this marketing method evolves, so must you and your business. Social media marketing is marketing through online communities, social networking sites, and blogs. If you are not already utilizing social sites for your business, you need to start NOW!

When it comes to making money with a website, one of the most popular methods is running text and/or image ads on various pages. It's referred to as contextual advertising and "inline ads". Inline ads appear as highlighted words on the page when the visitor hovers over highlighted text on the page. Ads appear in small boxes. Contextual ads are often displayed to the right or left of website copy or as blocks within sections of the text. As visitors click on these links, you earn cash.
Paul Marshall
Frankly, the biggest search engine optimization mistake you can make is not doing any SEO at all. It's amazing how many people believe "if you build it, they will come." Marketing coaching makes one thing clear: just putting a site on the Internet won't get you the traffic you want or need. By the same token, building a site and then thinking about SEO after the fact is also a bad plan.
Judy Murdoch
One of the greatest challenges of doing business in a "knowledge economy" is selling what is intangible. If you are a coach, consultant, an alternative health practitioner or any other business owner who is selling a service, you know how difficult it is to come up with an effective message that gets across why someone should hire you.

With all the work at home opportunities advertised today, it can be difficult to pick out the true jobs from the scams. Here are some tips that in just minutes will help you determine whether a job is legitimate or a scam.
Mark Walters
There are real work-at-home opportunities and they are fairly easy to identify. Presented are 6 indicators that are scams.

Bad personal credit is a common stumbling block for first-time entrepreneurs. Often, the motivation for going into business is to make more money, indicating that they are not making enough money working for others, thus, bad credit. Bad credit among entrepreneurs is more common than you think and can make the startup process slightly more difficult but is not a total barrier in itself.
Marcia Yudkin
When I interviewed a gardening specialist years ago for a story unrelated to gardening, she used a phrase to illustrate one of her points that I just couldn't understand. It sounded like "squash vine bores". I wrote it down, then later emailed to check the spelling and learned that it should have been "vine borers." If customers, referral sources and media people can't correctly translate the spoken version of your business name into writing or if they can't make sense of it when they hear the name, word of mouth publicity hits a major snag.

I recently came through a week of very hard work, chaotic energy and long hours. As I reviewed my goals and progress for the week, I realized that I couldn't remember much of anything that happened during that week. It was all a muddled blur in my mind, one day blending into the next. I do believe that hard work is good for us. However, if we don't also include periods of rest, quiet contemplation and recreation, what are we working so hard for?

You want a promotion. You want to develop your leadership skills. You want to eliminate the clutter from your desk – your life. You wish you could eliminate your debt. Be careful what you wish for.

As the owner, CEO or senior executive of a business, you share many things in common with the coaches of professional sports teams. Can you imagine the head coach of a team say in the National Football League, going into a game without a game plan? Of course not! That coach would soon be out of work.
