People literacy is knowing how to read and understand the behavioral style differences of others. Every manager has experienced the frustration of not understanding why one management approach that works beautifully with one employee is ineffective with another. That's because what we think would be motivating isn't always motivating to someone else.
Gary B. Cohen
As a true leader, Mike ensured understanding. He had a clear message and a clear focus. Printed on company shirts, hats, and posters, E3 became the symbol for driving the corporation forward. When an employee's comments were not aligned with E3, Mike set the employee back on course and made it clear to others that this was not acceptable.

Expectation is literally a self-fulfilling prophecy. We do this consciously and subconsciously. Remember the kid in grade school who was always really rowdy and disruptive? Sometimes if people already assume they are perceived a certain way, then that is indeed exactly how they will act, even if they don't mean to. The rowdy kid in grade school knew everyone perceived him as disruptive and so he was. The teacher expected bad behavior and the expectations were fulfilled.
John Dueme
A good leader can take a team and accomplish things that no one believed was possible. In order to do this they must make incremental changes that are challenging but not impossible. By giving their organization a string of successes they will build momentum and attitudes that will help them overcome even difficult situations in the future.
